What is it?
The Fast Company Innovation Festival celebrates innovation and creativity. It is an event in which celebrities and creative professionals from all kinds of fields, gather and speak about their experiences, and advice they have for young creators that are just beginning to start their careers. The posters shown below, are for three of the speakers that attended the event.
My Idea…
Innovation is defined as ‘the action or process of innovating’ or ‘a new method, idea, product, etc’. After researching what the word really meant, and the topics that were discussed at the festival, I noticed that everything was very “future focused”, which was fitting for the theme. With that being said, I decided to take a few steps back in time, while still keeping the future in mind.

The Design…
What does one usually need to attend an event or festival? A ticket. I started gathering images of old movie, festival, and concert tickets and somewhere along the way, came up with this design. A simple yet effective color palette, bold type, and unique shape give that vintage feel, while remaining modern with the information that is presented on the ticket.
The challenge was finding a way to organize that information, while maintaining hierarchy. As your eye flows down the ticket from the top left corner, all the way down to the bottom right, you obtain a large amount of information, without being overwhelmed due to how it is organized.
The Background…
To add more dimension and create conversation, I decided that a blank background would not to the job. The challenge here was to find a way to make it interesting, and not distract the viewer from obtaining the information they needed.
The solution I came up with was printing out smaller versions of the ticket you see in the center, and scattering them around the sides of the center ticket, photoshopping a few more around the edges of the poster to really fill the space.
