sista’s pizza
Project Type
Passion Project
Pizza is a passion…
Being the youngest of 5 has had a huge impact on my life, and who I am today. My personality is made up of 6 different people, my siblings and my parents. For this passion project, I designed and created the brand identity for an Italian pizza restaurant. There is a little bit of everyones personality in the details. Pizza nights were always a big event everyone looked forward to in my house. The best laughs, conversations, and even arguments were had at dinner when there were 3 or 4 boxes of pizza on the table. This project is for my family, and our very strong, obnoxious New York accents.
Let’s eat…
The Logo…
The logo is illustrated and inspired after myself, and two of my older sisters. Each slice of pizza reflects the personality of a sister. If you’d really like to know, i’m the one all the way on the right (classic youngest sibling face). The middle slice is the one in charge, the oldest, and the far left is the peacemaker middle child.
The Accent…
Let me explain what I mean by ‘the accent’ before I go any further. My Father was born and raised in the Bronx, so I will let you use your imagination and guess what he sounds like. When we are all together, we also start to sound like we were born and raised in the Bronx. If I had a dollar for every time I was told I ‘talk funny’ since moving to the south, i’d have a significant amount of dollars. Throughout this project, you’ll notice a lot of words are misspelled, and no it’s not an error. I spelled certain words and phrases the way they sound when speaking in a New York accent.
The Menu…
The menu is where you start to see a little bit of everyones personality. Sarcasm, blunt honesty, and a lots of love are used to describe each dish. The dishes are named after each family members go-to order, followed by a brief description of the dish in the way they would describe it. For example, my dad usually orders a chicken parm, or should I say, chicken PAHM.
The Story…
The vintage aesthetic of this restaurant was inspired by the thousands of small, family owned Italian restaurants around New York. There is always some sort of gallery wall filled with family photos and portraits, and somewhere in there is a story. It explains where everything began, and how it got to where it is today. This is just a sneak peak into what sista’s pizza is all about. Once the customer sits down, reads the menu, and enjoys themselves, that is when they will truly understand what pizza nights meant in our household.
